Century Motor 3Hp 56J Thread Shaft 230V C-Frame | B966

The Century B966 is a two-speed replacement motor for inground swimming pool pumps that use a 56J frame motor, such as the Hayward Super Pump, Maxflo, Super II and many others. It is rated 3 HP at 3450/1725 RPM high/low speed, drawing 13.8/4.0 amps on 230 volts, single phase, 60 Hz, with a 1.15 service factor and automatic overload protection. The motor is energy efficient on both high and low speed. Rotation is non-reversible, CCW facing the shaft. Construction is open drip proof with ball bearings and a 5/8" diameter threaded stainless steel shaft. The face has four threaded bolt holes for mounting the pump to the motor, spaced 5 7/8" on center measured across the shaft. A wiring diagram appears on the motor nameplate. Note that the power cord and high/low toggle switch are not included. This unit replaces the US Electric EB966.

Regulatory note: this replacement motor does not comply with California's efficiency regulations (Title 20, CCR sections 1601–1609), which require a variable speed replacement motor, and it does not comply with New York's regulations under NYSERDA Section 509.23, which align with California's Title 20 standards. US Department of Energy regulations covering single speed, two-speed and booster pumps took effect July 19, 2021.
